FODDER FOR MOTHS
PROJECT OVERVIEW: The “Fodder For Moths” series paid homage to the large amount of shelved art by unknown artists which collects dust in storage units, basements, and attics. These undiscovered works are destined to decay and never be seen by the public eye. Meanwhile, paintings within the public consciousness are delicately preserved in galleries and museums. After finding near-dissolving paintings in a thrift store in the Chicago suburbs, Raber was inspired to create a series of oil paintings designed to be unseen. The series culminated by a no phones or photographs event and then were kept off of the internet for two years— an act of conceptual commitment to form.
